Small portrait of the island Herm
Surface: approx. 2 km2
Inhabitant: approx. 50
Herm is a popular goal for daily trips from Guernsey. In the high season drives every 30 minutes a boat. One finds here the only genuine sand beach of the channel islands. There are long-term tourists on Herm however only few, because the island has only one hotel, campsite and some self-support Cottages.
Administration
Herm is property of the States of Guernsey and - under editions - is leased. Since 1949 the tenant is called Major Woods and he has it understood the infrastructure of the island consistently to develop, without impairing the natural state of Herms.
Industry and economics
Herm lives nearly only on the tourism. The agriculture has only local meaning, refrains one from the milk production, by which the majority is supplied all-morning to Guernsey's dairy enterprises.
